This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 amβ12 am. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (973) 494-7379. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is swahilivillages.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Newark is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Newark peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. My appetizer was Suya and the steak pieces had a lot of flavor but too much fat. My drink I sent it back they put too much mango puree it tastes like syrup. They made me another one it was also bad. I end up getting a Bahama mama drink and that was nothing but orange juice. The person making the drinks was not doing a good job. I told the waiter the drink was still too sweet and she told me I was wrong because she watch them make it. So I said ok nevermind . I was not trying to go back forth and my dinner was ok.
